The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced an administrative notice on September 5th of the revision of the Regulations on Cosmetic Safety Standards, which mainly calls for designating five types of hair dye ingredients, such as o-aminophenol, m-phenylenediamine hydrochloride, catechol, and pyrolol, and is receiving opinions until September 26.
While regular risk assessments are in progress for hair dye ingredients in 2022, the revision reflects the evaluation results that the possibility of genotoxicity of five types of hair dye, such as o-aminophenol, cannot be ruled out.
