Incospharm, a Korean cosmetics & pharmaceutical ingredient company together with Kookmin University and Metapore Inc. developed an ingenious method to extract and produce exosome in large quantity that will make products with exosomes much less expensive. Their research made the Cover story on the  Applied Materials & Interface Journal, May of 2023 issue (a prestigious science journal with impact factor of 9.5).

Specialty Active Ingredients are classified as such because they are proven to solve troubled skin, as opposed to Commodity Ingredients.  Variations of exosome are special active ingredients. Exosomes are nano-sized vesicles secreted by cells and transports various biological substances such as proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, and has the ability to differentiate cells (now-a-days used to identify cancer cells), regenerate, and regulate immune system – characteristics of stem cells.

Many skincare products use exosome as active ingredients but are expensive due to the limitations of current technology of extracting exosomes (from milk to various plants).

The new EPOTF (Electro Phonetic Oscillation-assisted Tangent Flow-driven ultrafiltration) overcomes the current tangential flow filtration where particles create caking on the surface of the filters.  EPOTF facilitates effective and efficient mass production of exosome.

As ardent consumer of skincare products, perhaps I too can afford to use exosome active skincare products!
