The BASF Research Conference is an event held every year from November to December to introduce BASF's solutions that lead sustainable innovation in various industries. Among multiple innovations, BASF presented 'Probiolift®’ a cosmetic active ingredient containing live probiotic bacteria found in the skin of young people. The effect? Less forehead wrinkles and more skin elasticity!
BASF found that Lactobacillus crispatus bacteria is abundant in the skin around the eyes of young people, but is not found in the wrinkles of older people. Based on this, BASF conducted an in vitro experiment and verified that this bacteria promote collagen production in skin cells. BASF's Probiolift® is the first cosmetic active ingredient containing live probiotic Lactobacillus crispatus found in the skin.
Probiolift® is produced through a special fermentation process with high energy efficiency. Using the supernatant that floats to the surface during the fermentation process, Probiolift® can be produced in a sustainable way. Postbiolift® contains metabolites produced from Lactobacillus crispatus, which helps improve elasticity and wrinkles around the eyes.
