OEM/ODM in cosmetics industry is now offering OSM (Original Solution Manufacturing) following OBM (Original Brand Manufacturer) and JDM (Joint Development Manufacturer). COSMETEC JAPAN (CEO Kensuke Fujimoto), which has a history of 138 years, presented the OSM concept for the first time at the Cosme Week Tokyo exhibition. Atsushi Ise joined COSMETEC JAPAN as an employee and was promoted to President this year.

Q. Please introduce Cosmetec Japan?

Cosmetec Japan, part of the Momotani Juntenkan Group, is a cosmetics manufacturer that originated from Momotani Juntenkan (founder Masajirou Momotani), a pioneer in Japanese cosmetics founded in 1885. In 1916, Momotani Cosmetic Laboratory was founded which makes this year its 139th anniversary. Our belief is to ‘satisfy customers by providing high-value products to the world.’ Our motto is ‘Zero to One’ and we are an OEM company that creates value by starting from scratch. We are currently working with clients from all over the world, including Southeast Asia.

Q. What products were introduced at Cosme Week Tokyo exhibition?

In order to leap forward in the post-corona era, there are 3 sections ('Clinical' for aesthetics, 'Ethical' for well-being while protecting the environment, and 'Femtech' to support women) where we showcased unique items in 21 sections under the theme of 'Brand New Day'. We received favorable evaluation that the products provided a glimpse into the major trends of the next era. People wanted to commercialize our products as is.

Q. What is OSM? Cosmetec Japan is not just another manufacturer, but a production company that oversees everything from marketing to design, manufacturing, regulatory compliance, and sales strategy. Our strength is that we ‘plan and sell solutions’ tailored to the needs and challenges of each customer. OSM, which was introduced for the first time at this exhibition, carries out all processes from product development to export. We even dispose inventory through live commerce. In the future, we will pioneer the market by creating products and services that have never been released before.

Q. What are your future plans?

We plan to participate in exhibitions around the world, especially in Asia, and expand our business foothold. We will actively consider collaboration with competing companies and seek to leverage each other’s strengths.
